The Pictures Lie

about

I'd written a short poem about giving up being drunk & as I was waiting for my friend in a car I decided to try something I'd never really done before, I sang an a cappella song into my phone. The melodies you hear are what naturally poured out, I added some introductory piano & ocean sounds as (my usual metaphor for addiction is being lost at sea) & voila, this reflective song was born. There's something more poignant about the vocals sitting almost completely home, to hammer home the point of the song in raw & simple style.

lyrics

The drunk in me died of thirst.
The good man within destroyed the worst.
Stable upon this wagon, I will mend my ways.
Been face down in the dirt at my end of days.

Sick of feeling sick & sickening you all.
Nothing glorious about the drunk man, he just falls
From gracious beginnings to loquacious sinning.
Fuck you 'drunk me', it's my turn for winning.

1 the art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.

Music is my life. An oft-used cliché yet nonetheless true for me. I've devoted most of my existence to exploring it in every way & in turn it has enabled me to travel the world & meet new friends all over.

Hope you like my sounds!
